Parkinson’s disease is often a struggle - both for the patient as well as the caretaker - as the patient experiences motor and cognitive decline.

We hope to create a space for Parkinson’s patients to manage their cognitive symptoms (often paid less attention to due to Parkinson’s disease being known as ‘the shaking disease’) as well as a space for their caretakers to educate themselves and understand more about the disease from an insider perspective.

After noticing that there was a lack of a systemic process that had been implemented to regularly track the progression of symptoms and understanding the progression of Parkinson’s was largely based on occasional cognitive tests as well as a recount of events by families, we discovered a dire need for the development of a system that would allow for regular checking of cognitive ability as well as cause significant improvement in cognitive ability. We also realised so much of understanding the impact of the disease on the patient was based on visits to the hospital and wanted to target this aspect by designing an application that does not require medical supervision and can be performed in almost any location.

Keeping in mind the motor disabilities involved in Parkinson’s disease, we have focused on designing games that are simplistic and shorter, to allow the user to take breaks in between and understand the game effectively.

We would love for this web application to trigger real, tangible improvement in Parkinson’s patients and cause a decline in the progression of cognitive symptoms.
