Who are we?

Hello! We are Maya and Ria Kataria, the names behind this initiative. We are two high school students currently studying at The International School Bangalore and are extremely passionate about the field of biology and hope to build careers in biology whether that be through medicine or the healthcare industry. We love exploring biology through different lenses for example inequality and technology as well as the intersection of these fields and how they come together to solve essential and prevalent societal problems.

Why did we start CogniAble?

After our grandfather’s diagnosis with Parkinson’s disease, we were directly exposed to the detrimental effects of the disease on a patient’s quality of life as they slowly progress through the disease to lose their ability to function as their normal selves. We also experienced first-hand the stress of being so closely involved - we did not know when things would change for the better or the worse and had no indication of whether my grandfather’s condition was improving. And this inspired our discussion and decision to start CogniAble.
